Regional Sales Director

The Company

Sisu Global Health is the medical device company for emerging markets. Sisu is changing the statistic that 80% of the world's medical devices are designed for 10% of the world's population. Sisu is a flexible and fast-paced startup looking to meet the unmet medical technology needs of most of the world’s population.

Our first product, Hemafuse, is a patented surgical tool to manually salvage, filter, and recycle blood from internal bleeding back to the patient. Hemafuse is the first in a pipeline of medical devices that address challenges unique to emerging markets, such as blood access. We have achieved regulatory approval in Ghana and Kenya for Hemafuse and are entering the market launch phase as a company.

Description

We are looking for a high-performing Sales Director to cover East and West Africa regions. The successful candidate will coordinate in-country Marketing managers to engage hospital targets. The Sales Director will also work directly with in-country distributors to meet revenue growth objectives. Sales director duties will include hitting annual targets, building relationships and understanding customer trends.

This job has flexible location, however, access to sites in Africa preferred.

Responsibilities

Sales Management

  • Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets within Africa
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Understand category-specific landscapes and trends
  • Reporting on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts
  • Owning and hitting/exceeding annual sales targets
  • Developing and executing strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting distribution relationships
  • Financial and Legal Responsibilities
  • Work with CMO to develop and manage annual revenue and expense budgets, including sales targets by product line
  • Ensure all revenue and expense budgets and reforecasts are achieved on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis; update team performance goals accordingly, taking corrective actions when necessary to guarantee annual budgets are met
  • Work with local legal counsel to ensure all licensing and other agreements are complete and regularly updated for accuracy and effectiveness
  • Work with local legal counsel, accounting expertise and Sisu’s CMO to build local business operations ethically and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets
  • Previous experience as a sales executive, sales manager or sales and marketing director
  • Ability to communicate with, present to and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to motivate distributor partners
  • Ability to plan and organize work plan and evolve based on changing demands
  • Strong professional and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Willing to travel between West and East African hubs as well as potentially the US (as required)
  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Sales or other similar degree
  • Experience in healthcare sales and marketing (ideally medical device and emerging markets)
  • Experience planning, executing, and measuring the effectiveness of a sales and marketing plans
  • Experience living and working in Sub-Saharan Africa
